Pacific Journal of Medical and Health Sciences

Mission Statement

Pacific Journal of Medical and Health Sciences exists to advance the frontiers of medical knowledge by providing a rigorous, open and inclusive platform for the dissemination of high-quality research across all disciplines of medicine and health sciences. The journal is committed to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical practice, empowering healthcare professionals, researchers, educators and students worldwide with evidence-based insights that are freely accessible to all.

We believe that the democratisation of medical knowledge — making it available without financial, geographical or institutional barriers — is not merely an aspiration but a professional and ethical obligation. It is this conviction that drives every editorial decision we make, every manuscript we review and every issue we publish and distribute, in print and online, across India and internationally.

The journal is dedicated to promoting innovative, high-quality research across all branches of medical and health sciences. It provides a platform for advances in basic and clinical medical research and serves as a reliable resource for cutting-edge developments in the medical arena.

The key aims of the journal are to offer authoritative interpretations of emerging knowledge in medicine and health sciences, and to assist practitioners in incorporating not only evidence-based findings but also new conceptual frameworks into their clinical practice. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports and scholarly commentaries. Emphasis is placed on maintaining rigorous academic standards with an efficient and transparent review process.

Journal History

Pacific Journal of Medical and Health Sciences was established in 2017 under the auspices of Pacific Medical University, Udaipur, one of Rajasthan's foremost medical institutions. Since its inception, the journal has maintained an unbroken record of quarterly publication, a distinction shared by only a select few medical journals in India.

Over the course of its publication history, the journal has produced a series of landmark thematic special issues addressing the most pressing health challenges of our time. These include a special issue on COVID-19 (December 2022), dedicated to advancing understanding of the pandemic that reshaped global medicine; a special issue on Platelets (December 2023), focusing on haematological research of critical clinical significance; a special issue on Chrono-Nutrition and Trace Elements (December 2024), exploring the intersection of nutritional science, chronobiology and metabolic health; and a special issue on Diabetes (2025), addressing the global epidemic of diabetes mellitus through 199 of the latest international research papers classified across 28 thematic categories.

For over eight years, the journal has been distributed in print, free of charge, to the libraries of leading medical colleges, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) across India. This commitment to broad, barrier-free physical distribution reflects the journal's founding conviction that access to medical knowledge must never be contingent on the ability to pay.
